There have been allegations of rigging in the admissions of PhD 2019-20 in the Computer Science Department of Lucknow University. It has been alleged that the marks awarded by the committee formed during the interview have been replaced by the level of Admission Coordinator. The special thing is that this allegation has been made by Professor Brijendra Singh, Head of the Department of Computer Science and the current Dean of Science Faculty.

Pro. There has been a stir in the university as soon as Brijendra Singh disclosed this by writing a letter. As soon as the matter came to light, a three-member committee has been constituted by the Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, Professor Alok Kumar Rai. On the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar Vinod Kumar Singh has issued orders in this regard.

This is how the game happened, the numbers changed

Actually, applications were sought for 6 seats of PhD in the session 2019-20 in the Computer Science Department of Lucknow University. This is where the controversy started. Professor Brijendra Singh, who was the HOD of the department at that time, raised objections about the number of seats and talked about admission on 4 seats. Despite this, applications were invited for 6 seats from the university administration and the admission process was carried forward.

On the orders of the university administration, the 5 member committee conducted interviews of the candidates applying for admission. These marks were sent by the department to the admission committee to carry forward the admission process. Meanwhile, the HOD sent a letter to the university administration in June 2021. In this letter, questions were raised on the admission coordinator and his team looking after the admission process. It was alleged that the marks which were sent by the interviewing committee in connection with the admission were changed.

6 entered, after the complaint of HOD there was a ruckus

Despite the objection of the Head of the Department, the admission process was completed at the level of Admission Coordinator and admissions were also taken in all the 6 seats. Now the course work and further process of these candidates is in balance. These claims have already been questioned by the Head of the Department. On the other hand, the university administration was still sitting silent in this matter. After the dispute escalated, a 3-member committee was formed in a hurry last week. Registrar Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh informed that the committee has been constituted on the orders of the Vice Chancellor. Further action will be taken on the report of the committee.

He is a member of the inquiry committee

The committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor includes retired Justice KD Singh, Justice Bhagirath Verma and retired IAS Prabhat Mittal. On the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar Vinod Kumar Singh has issued orders in this regard.

What did the Admission Coordinator say?

On this whole matter, Admissions Coordinator, Professor Pankaj Mathur said that the seats of all the admissions in the Computer Science Department in 2019-20 were decided by the Registrar. Admission is done as per rules.
